Friends Of The Brainerd Public Library


We are a group of people who have something in common. 

We LOVE the local library! 


The Friends Board meets on the first Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m.  to discuss upcoming Friends events, and look at ways to support our local library and community. Friends members, as well as those interested in knowing more about Friends of the Library, are welcome to attend.


  • New book, audio, and DVD purchases

  • Book in the bag program (10 copies of one book to be checked out for groups)

  • Brown Bag Author Events

  • Summer Reading Program for children

  • Used Book Sales (Spring and Fall)

  • Children's Book Sale Event

  • Fundraising events 

  • Wine and Words 

  • Books Burgers and Brews - A monthly community Book Club

  • Christmas Open House

  • supplement the Library with materials

  • and so much more!


To become a Friend Of The Brainerd Public Library, please fill out a Friends Application and either email it to, mail it to the library in the care of The Friends, or fill out the information and submit it online.  As a friend, you will receive access to our newsletter, the ability to volunteer at our Book sales and Events, and more! 




AFFIRM our belief that the library is an invaluable asset to everyone in our community.


RECOGNIZE that goals in library advocacy can be better achieved through an organization rather than as individuals


ENCOURAGE the use of the library’s resources and services through publicity and participation in library activities


ENRICH the cultural life of the community by sponsoring special programs and exhibits


STIMULATE public support for fund drives


  PROVIDE equipment and materials not available through the regular library budget by organizing fundraising events
